Nonesuch Orchestra returns to the Church of St Clement Danes in the Strand for our summer lunchtime concert: Thursday 18th June at 12.45pm.
This year you will hear virtuoso bassist Jonny Hayward perform Missy Mazzoli’s brilliant, intense work Dark with Excessive Bright for solo double bass and orchestra - inspired by Milton’s Paradise Lost. The concert opens with Fantasie No.1, composed by Milton’s father, John Milton Sr. To complete the programme, two exhilarating baroque works: Franz Xaver Richter’s Adagio and Fugue in G minor, and Handel’s Concerto Grosso op.6 no.3.
All in all, an unmissable event of exciting music in one of London’s most beautiful venues!
There is no charge for admission; there will be a retiring collection to support Nonesuch’s vital work bringing live music to schools all over London.
And a reminder: toilet facilities at St Clements are limited.
